Veracocha

Veracocha was a short-lived but legendary trance music project formed by Dutch producers Vincent de Moor and Ferry Corsten. The duo is best known for their 1999 classic trance anthem “Carte Blanche,” which became one of the most iconic tracks in the history of the genre.

Origins & Formation

In the late 1990s, both Ferry Corsten and Vincent de Moor were rising stars in the electronic dance music scene. Ferry Corsten had already gained recognition for his work under various aliases, including System F, and was making waves in the trance world. Meanwhile, Vincent de Moor was known for his melodic and uplifting productions.

The two producers collaborated under the alias Veracocha, a name inspired by Viracocha, an ancient Incan deity. Their only release under this name, “Carte Blanche,” became an instant classic.

“Carte Blanche” – A Trance Anthem

Released in 1999 on Positiva Records, Carte Blanche featured an energetic and euphoric melody combined with powerful driving beats. The track was an immediate success, receiving massive airplay in clubs and festivals and becoming a staple in DJ sets from legends like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Tiësto.

Legacy of “Carte Blanche”

  • Named one of the greatest trance tracks of all time by fans and DJs alike.
  • Remixed and re-released multiple times, including versions by Cosmic Gate (2008) and David Gravell (2016).
  • Featured in numerous trance compilations and frequently played at major festivals.

Why Only One Track?

Despite the massive success of Carte Blanche, Veracocha never released any further music. Both Ferry Corsten and Vincent de Moor continued focusing on their solo careers, leaving Carte Blanche as a one-hit wonder in the trance scene—though one of the most celebrated hits in the genre’s history.

Impact & Influence

Even though Veracocha was a short-lived project, its influence on the trance genre remains profound. Carte Blanche continues to be played in trance sets worldwide, and its melody has inspired countless producers.

For trance fans, Veracocha represents a moment in time when the genre was reaching new heights, with uplifting melodies and euphoric energy defining the sound of the late \’90s and early 2000s.
