Velvetine

Velvetine is a collaborative trance music project formed by Hungarian DJ and production duo Myon & Shane 54 and American singer-songwriter Aruna. The trio united their talents to create a unique blend of emotive vocals and progressive trance melodies, resulting in tracks that have resonated deeply within the electronic dance music community.

Formation and Early Work

The inception of Velvetine dates back to 2009 when Myon (Márió Égető) reached out to Aruna for a collaboration. Their initial joint effort, “Helpless,” garnered positive feedback, inspiring them to establish Velvetine as a side project to explore musical ideas that extended beyond their individual artistic personas. Their debut original track, “Safe (Wherever You Are),” was released in 2010 on Anjunabeats Volume 7 and received acclaim from fans and industry figures alike, including Armin van Buuren, who created an intro mix and a mashup version with his track “Face to Face.”

Breakthrough Success

In 2012, Velvetine released “The Great Divide,” a track that achieved significant success by reaching the number one spot on Beatport’s trance and dubstep charts. The song was first introduced by Armin van Buuren on his radio show A State of Trance #573, further elevating its prominence within the trance music scene.

Musical Style and Legacy

Velvetine’s music is characterized by its cinematic quality, seamlessly blending Aruna’s ethereal vocals with the progressive and uplifting productions of Myon & Shane 54. Their work has been praised for its elegant composition and emotional depth, with tracks like “The Great Divide” being lauded for their timeless appeal.
